Your Advance Directive

Every adult should have an advance directive (medical/health care proxy or medical power of attorney), regardless of age or marital status.

A medical proxy differs from a living will. A living will does not appoint an agent or surrogate and addresses only end of life issues. Your medical proxy appoints someone to act on your behalf if you are unable to speak for yourself, if only temporarily. OMR is committed to educating the public about the need for proxies and of the availability of OMR's services. Most medical facilities require medical proxies for all patient procedures but those medical proxies are often inaccessible in an emergency.

OnlineMedicalRegistries.com offers its members the security of knowing that their wishes will be respected even if they are unable to participate in treatment decisions. Subscribers with a medical/health care proxy or medical power of attorney can register their information with OMR.

OMR also permits subscribers to store a scanned copy of their executed medical proxy, which can be printed out by a hospital. More than 24 million Americans already have an advance directive, but that document is often stored in files which are not immediately accessible to physicians when most needed...in an emergency.
